{"id":863,"date":"2018-09-20T02:55:27","date_gmt":"2018-09-20T02:55:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.himmelsteinfinancial.com\/?p=863"},"modified":"2018-09-20T02:55:27","modified_gmt":"2018-09-20T02:55:27","slug":"art-of-the-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.himmelsteinfinancial.com\/index.php\/art-of-the-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Art of the Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Greatest Time to Get Great Underwriting<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Most people in our industry know that the end of the year, companies are more apt to make offers that they wouldn&#8217;t offer any other time.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">IN THE PAST MANY CONDITIONS WERE IMMEDIATE DECLINES<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This Includes people who have had: but not limited to the following<br \/>\nCancer\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Asthma\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mental Impairments<br \/>\nDiabetes\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hepatitis\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 COPD<br \/>\nStents \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Emphysema\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heart issues<\/p>\n<p>Here is a crazy example of underwriting.\u00a0 A prominent broker gave me a couple that he wanted SUL or SWL for and the man was 79, closer to 80, and the woman was 69.\u00a0 We looked at the prelim and had the belief that\u00a0there was no way any company would take him other than uninsurable. \u00a0We recently underwrote a person whose APS came in with 30 ailments and on 15 prescriptions. \u00a0It was my first case from this producer and I thought for sure after I saw the case that it was leading with my worst foot forward and I expected that they would not produce through our agency again.\u00a0 HOWEVER, much to our surprise they indeed made an offer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another one we got recently had a 65-year young lady.\u00a0 She has had multiple impairments including a growth (questionable cancer) on her kidneys that was cut out and radiated.\u00a0 She has RA being treated successfully. The doctor who was retired called it Cancer.\u00a0 However, the client was told by the Dr. that she didn&#8217;t have cancer was not required to come back as it had been over 5 years since operation.\u00a0 The new Dr. indicated that he disagreed with that diagnosis before despite his office chart didn&#8217;t reflect that prognosis.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Even though the doctor had in his notes from the retired Dr. he never corrected his notes.\u00a0 We called, faxed, emailed the Dr. and got him to write a new note.\u00a0 She went from a total decline to table 3 and through a table shave program was standard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Greatest Time to Get Great Underwriting Most people in our industry know that the end of the year, companies are more apt to make offers that they wouldn&#8217;t offer any other time.
